The “H” Models mean that it has a halogen bulb in them. They’re from the mid 70s onwards, whereas the non-H models are from before that, and use DEK-style bulbs.
The H models are better, since the bulb is more easily found and replaced.
I would go with one of the Ektagraphic projectors, personally if i needed to pick just one. I made this chart to try to figure out which models had which features.
The Ektagraphic III projectors (1981+, gray with the “swoopy” design) with the “A” in their model name have autofocus, as well as (i think) any of the 4000 and 5000 models. They used the Ektagraphic designation for the more professional/industrial use models, as they have a more precise slide registration in them… better for multi-projector multimedia shows, etc.
